Over the years, I’ve accepted Canada’s equalization payment scheme, as a necessary evil. What equalization was originally designed to do, was strengthen Canada as a whole, by uniting the country. However, equalization has become a negotiating tool, causing a sever unbalance and biased use of the funds collected. Then there is the Federal government which has prevented further growth by creating and adopting policy, that prevents expansion. Gateway pipeline is a prime example. The Federal government says no more pipelines. Then they instite a Carbon tax, which further slows progress, and causes another unfair bias, towards the provinces that contribute more to the equalization contributions. The idea that Canadians as a whole will be more inclined to vote conservative if Poilievre doesn’t upset the apple cart and piss off the have not provinces, is really buying votes. Let’s face it, the energy industry has created more and better paying jobs in Canada as a whole. Opening up pandora’s box is always ugly, but facing Canada’s challenges as a Global entity is far better than doing nothing at all. You can not solve problems without action.

Alberta is paying for Quebecs social advantages. There is nothing fair and just with the equalization program. We are fed up with the status quo. End it!

Pierre is our last bastion of hope to address this unfairness. Quebec in particular has always been the biggest benefactor yet the most demanding and divisive and speak only for Quebecers. Western Canada needs to be paid attention to, Alberta is now the have not province this needs to be addressed. The east coast also seems to get a lot of attention and support in this unfairness. (sidebar) In addition, something needs to be changed so that Toronto and her burbs no longer determine the outcome of elections.

Very unfair to alberta and Saskatchewan. Cancel the entire program or change the rules. Quebec has been given special treatment and is not expanding natural resources.
