Maybe another petition is required wherein voters pledge to divert 50% of their political donations to the design and promotion of a revised equalization program that actually does equalize by helping low income Canadians fund their training and education in ways that improve their employment and earning qualifications.

Not only equalization should go, but in reality Alberta should receive a full refund for all of the payments made to the Federal Government since the year equalization was put into effect. To my knowledge, Albertans did not agree with any leadership to enact equalization — this was put through the back door by Alberta’s Premier at the time (Lougheed?) with elder Trudeau. It is time that the rest of Canada respect Alberta and note for all of the equalization payments made over the past decade, Provinces like Quebec have ordered oil from Saudi Arabia rather than purchasing Alberta’s oil while we are giving them equalization payments. So yes, major changes across the Board need to be made in this Country to solve these problems. Keep up the good work Pierre!

Unfortunately, Pierre knows that if he publicly states he will end equalization, he just hands votes to the socialist NDP and Libs. Caught between a rock and a hard place!

Equalization encourages other provinces not to work at developing their own resources. It is a crutch they can do without.

Although equalization is good in theory, it’s not good in its current form and will result in Alberta separating from Canada if no serious changes are implemented soon. Then, and only then, will the rest of Canada realize it was wrong to rely on one province to continually fund everything for the entire country, all while simultaneously trying to stop it from making the money these same provinces have become reliant on. It will be too late then.

I’m sick.of these equalization payments that benefit the east and punish the west. If you don’t come up with a plan to encourage the east to look after themselves and continue to rob from the west…then this country will become even more divisive than it already is. And while you’re at …we still want our own pension plan..let’s have a number. And why is Quebec exempt on their hydro ?

    Fed Up I Alberta

scrap the payments to Quebec and Ontario ..

they didn’t send any thing resembling help when we were down and out during covid or for that matter we weren’t even known to the east until Trump’s tarrif threat.

why not send the money to the maritimes..and Manitoba

..Alberta has N E V E R been treated fairily and now wowwwwwww eureka Alberta’s oil is needed to pull Canada out of hock Again
Mr Poilieve where do your loyalies lie??? in the East or with the W.E.F.????

please treat Alberta as a province with good people instead of a cash cow… As a senior citizen it is almost impossible to eat and pay bills, but look at Quebec they live like kings getting tons and tons of money from Alberta and not a penny was shared now or ever.

what are you going to do about it.?…Quebec is self sufficent and doesn’t need the money so send it to the provinces who need it more .

Are you going stop the unfair practice of sending the equalized payments to Ontario and Quebec and is this part of your platform for the election…?

you are campaining to be the next prime minister of Canada and as a concerned voter ,i want to know if you will stop the transfer payments.

I will wait to hear from you if the transfer payments will be distributed to the poorer provinces instead of rich very rich Quebec and Ontario……

    thank you !
