In my experiences, clean energy can be effective but has huge limitations. We can utilize a degree of this concept but it alone cannot work. We must continue to use our non-renewable plants as well.
The fact that 2 of 3 generators were down definitely played a huge part in this energy alert. Those in charge of scheduling planned maintenance in January, the cold months, should be removed.
The thought of protecting the environment is kind but I agree that Canada has a pin point affect on the overall picture when other countries have a much larger carbon footprint and are not following the same program. This is very unjust to the Canadian people.

Need to stop the climate fear mongering and focus on real solutions! There has never been a climate crisis all manufactured to take away our freedom!!

I’ve thought all this was stupid from the start. Every ‘environmentally friendly’ solution still needs oil and gas to be manufactured and run and isn’t as friendly to the environment as the government would like you to think(I really don’t have room here for my solar panels frying birds and contributing to global warming rant here, and don’t even get me started on the wind turbines or electric cars) Ottawa doesn’t care if Alberta has rolling blackouts on the coldest day of the year because it isn’t THEIR houses that are gonna be loosing power. If the government were truly concerned about there being too much carbon in the air they would start an initiative program of some sort to encourage more grass and trees in cities and boundary areas on farms. (For those of you that have forgotten fourth grade science plants need carbon in order to produce oxygen) You want solar panels?Fine, but why are we frying acres and acres of usable farm land then they could be on high rise buildings in the city(so you replace a few of your windows with some solar panels, nooners gonna know) There’s an energy ‘crisis’ because the government created one.

Clean energy is a nice dream but not reality with current solutions
