Event: Alberta: Autonomy, Independence, or Separation?
Last night, together with our partners at the Alberta Institute and the Institute for Liberal Studies, we hosted Jason Sorens in Calgary for a completely free talk on "Alberta: Autonomy, Independence, or Separation?"
You can watch video of the event below.
Project Confederation, the Alberta Institute, and the Institute for Liberal Studies do not take a position on whether Alberta should separate from Canada or not, but Jason is in a unique position to be able to bring some much-needed historical and international context to Alberta's current situation.
Jason literally wrote the book on "Secessionism", he holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale, has taught at Yale, Buffalo State, and Dartmouth and is now the Director of the Center for Ethics in Business and Governance at Saint Anselm College.
He has also done in-depth academic writing, published peer-reviewed research, and spoken on fiscal federalism, jurisdictional competition, regional inequality, and autonomy, looking at everything from Brexit to Catalan Independence.
You may have also heard of him as the Founder of the Free State Project in the US!
A video of the event is available for you to view here:
We hope you enjoy watching the event.
We host and present these events for free so that as many Albertans as possible can get involved in our campaign.
However, if you are in a position to contribute, we would greatly appreciate donations, big or small, to help cover our organization's expenses for this and other important projects.
If you're not in a position to donate, we understand, but if you support our work please help spread our message by sharing this event with your family and friends, or by volunteering to help our campaign.
