We need a stronger Albert voice. We’re all tiered of the take take take attitude that the federal government has on Alberta. But when loosing thousands of jobs here nothing gets said. Loose 400 jobs in the auto industry & the sky is falling.

While I may not agree with every point in this letter I agree with most points. If Alberta doesn’t make these changes, we will be bankrupted by the left leaning political parties, (LLPP). They have zero interest in Alberta except as a “cash cow”. We would have much more bargaining power with the LLPP to the east and west of us, with more independence. However, we would also need our own armed forces, (AF), in Cold Lake, Wainwright, etc.. Without the AF’s we would have no muscle to back our demands when the LLPP start to us the Canadian AF’s against us. Timing is also everything.

Western Canada’s relationship with Ottawa and eastern Canada is so abusive I feel like we are nothing more than working slaves to those we give transfer payments. If we don’t stand up for what is decent and right who else will!

I wrote most of these points in a Calgary Herald article published 1Sept2003. We should have done this then. Alberta has given almost one trillion dollars to Canada since 1961.
