CPP Investment Board Playing Politics

As you probably now know, the managers of the Canada Pension Plan - the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board - are coming to Alberta this week to tell Albertans how amazing the CPP is.

The CPP has been spending god-knows-how-much money advertising the CPP on TV, radio, online, and more, and now they're coming to Calgary tomorrow and Edmonton on Wednesday to do the same.

We've been encouraging our supporters to attend the event since the events were first announced, but we've been stymied by a series of interesting "coincidences".

We first emailed our supporters about the CPP's events at 8:00 am on March 21st.

Just a few hours later, registrations closed, with no explanation as to why.

A few days later, also with no explanation why, registrations opened again.

So, naturally, we emailed our supporters again to let them know that registrations were open again, only for them to almost immediately close again.

A few days later, registrations quietly opened again, and the events were now being held in bigger venues - so, ok, we'll give the CPPIB the benefit of the doubt - maybe they were just sold out?

Over the following week, a large number of left-wing advocacy groups - including big unions - started promoting the new locations, sending their own emails out, and presumably getting their supporters to register.

So, once again, last Friday, we sent out yet another email to our supporters, letting them know that registrations were open again and encouraging them to register while they could.

6 minutes.

That's how long it took for registrations to close again after we'd sent out that email.

6 minutes.

And, once again, there's no word about whether the new venues are full or anything like that.

Registrations are just closed for good.

So, yeah, sure, this could all just be a big coincidence, couldn't it?

But, it sure seems like the CPP maybe just doesn't want anyone who disagrees with them to be able to attend - doesn't it?

So, we're going to take an unusual step and suggest that you just show up anyway, even if you haven't been able to register for the event yet.

We think there's a decent chance that tickets are NOT sold out, and that the CPPIB is just trying to control who can attend, to try and save face.

So, please come out to one of the following events tomorrow and Wednesday in Calgary and Edmonton, respectively.

Our team will be there early to figure out what's going on, and we hope you will be there too!

Calgary

Where: BMO Centre at Stampede Park (20 Roundup Way SE, Calgary, AB)

When: Tuesday, April 16th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

RSVP: Politicized. Show up anyway.

When: Wednesday, April 17th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Let's show them that Albertans understand the benefits of an Alberta Pension Plan, and are demanding the facts.

See you there!
